Abstract Syntax Notation One
Abstract Syntax Notation One (ASN.1) is a formal notation used for describing data transmitted by telecommunications protocols, regardless of language implementation and physical representation of data. As a standard interface description language (IDL) for defining data structures that can be serialized and deserialized in a cross-platform way, ASN.1 is used in telecommunications and computer networking, and especially in cryptography.
