Biomedical Experiments Scientific Satellite

The Biomedical Experiments Scientific Satellite (BESS) program was proposed to provide a long-duration, Earth-orbiting facility to expose a variety of specimens and especially primates in a series of basic biological and medical studies. The large pressurized experiment module should contain a life support system (LSS), a waste management system (WMS), specimen-holding facilities, as well as monitoring, evaluating, and data-handling equipment.
